Free Saturday afternoon parking until Christmas
Stafford Borough Council has announced that parking on the Pay and Display car parks in the town - at Westbridge Park and Crown Street - will be free of charge after 1 p.m every Saturday until Christmas. Whilst any such concession is welcome, I wonder why they have departed from the custom of previous years of granting free parking for the whole day.
But I’m being silly - the answer is obvious! The Borough Council’s finances are in such a mess that they even have to adopt a ‘Scrooge’ like approach to half a days car parking income at Christmas time.
