Bus Pass bonus
I always log on to the Into Stone website to keep up to date with the gossip and to see what’s happening around town. So, imagine my surprise when I came across a story on the home page announcing that Stafford Borough Council are extending the national bus pass scheme to all buses on all routes at all times (not just 9.30 am to 11.30 pm) with effect from April 2008. Surprise? Because, as a Borough Councillor, I seem to have missed this item amongst the mountains of paperwork I receive each week from Stafford.
Perhaps this proposal has been on an agenda or in some report or minute somewhere - but I certainly haven’t seen it. Or perhaps this is yet another example of the press being given details before councillors? I don’t know but intend to find out.
Whatever, I am delighted to hear the good news. As a bus pass holder myself, it always seemed that the proposed national scheme was particularly mean.
