Town Council budget

The Town Council’s budget proposals for the next financial year were agreed at a meeting of the Budget Sub Committee last night. The recommendations will be placed before the General Purposes Committee next Tuesday for ratification. And everyone seems happy with the outcome!

Next year the Council will support the Cycle Race, the Music Festival and several other events in the town. We shall refurbish all Town Council owned bus shelters and we shall create a disabled friendly footpath across Crown Meadow.

And the really good news is that we shall be able to do all these things, and more, without any significant increase in the precept. In fact, after factoring into the calculation the number of rateable properties in the town, the average Band D council tax payer will see  a zero increase  in the Town Council payment next year. Now that’s better news than they will be getting from the Borough!
